Howdy, Volunteers!

It’s that time of year again. Our modern city of concrete and glass is lined with hay bales and kooky window art. Stephen Ave business suits have been replaced with cowboy hats and Wranglers. We’re ready to party, western style!

We all love Stampede for the festive atmosphere, the excuse to wear jeans and the free pancakes, but none of this would be possible without volunteers! Thousands of volunteers are involved in the Stampede all year round in Calgary; from planning and promotion to the face of Stampede events. Without volunteers, this huge event that transforms our city wouldn’t be possible.

Stampede represents something important about our city. We tell the world that we are a vibrant community with passion, we are active and we love our culture. Stampede inspires us to reflect on the role that volunteers play in our city, during these ten days and all year round.

When you are at Stampede events in the coming weeks, take a moment to notice the efforts of the volunteers behind the scenes and the ones flipping your pancakes. Thanks, folks. Calgary couldn’t experience this without you.
