Looking to land a hand anyway possible.
We are still being told to sit tight. The big all-hands on deck recovery effort is still being coordinated, but should probably get rolling in the next day or two. We should have a new blog up hopefully tomorrow with some contact information. Unfortunately, with power shut off to our building, our volunteer database is down, so for now Social Media and the Blog is where we are trying to relay that information. Keep checking back and thanks for wanting to help!
Is there a place in Edmonton where goods can be dropped off?
That is a good question, we will ask the social media world and I’ll add it to the list if something comes up. Thanks!
Someone needs to reach out to your sister organizations in other cities like Vancouver. Many of us have friends and family there and would like to donate.
Will see what we can do. In the meantime, the YWCA is in need of monetary donations and you can do that online through their online donation form. http://www.ywcaofcalgary.com/donate-form/
Reblogged this on moksha mama.
I have women and children’s clothing and some bedding stuff. But I have no way of getting them to any of the drop off areas in the city. I am unable to drive. If there would be a way for someone to come and pick up the Donations that would be great.
I gathered & packed huge amounts of shoes, mens’ & womens’ clothing & toiletries yesterday only to find out Siksika had rec’d 50 truckloads & didn’t need more. Where can I take these things today?
Alpha House needs supplies, and the Drop In Centre likely does as well
Center of Hope has a call out for supplies….4510 MacLeod Tr.SW
Any donations to the YWCA that you have a till receipt showing you purchased the items, you will get a tax donation receipt.
I have childrens clothes and toys we would like to donate to families in need; where am i able to drop these items off?
Neighbourlink is your best bet for those items. They aer taking donations and getting them to the appropriate places. Their address is on the drop off points list
I would really like to donate clothes to the flood victims but having no luck in finding a drop off place. Red cross says they are not accepting material goods at this time.
Anyone know of a reliable clothing drop off locations I would really like to help.
Depends on what it is, Drop In Centre can usually use mens clothing, as can alpha house, and neighbourlik and the YWCA can use womens clothing
URGENT-I was just contacted by Foothills Pet Resort in Cayley who is housing pets rescued from High River. They are running out of non clumping cT litter or wood pellets and litter boxes. I have someone who will drive it out there tonight or tomorrow once collected. This can be dropped of at my house 2212-1 Street NW Calgary today
What a wonderful thing so see all of these people donating time, money and items. We dealt with this here for the Slave Lake Fires with the relief centre. There are a couple of things that you could do to help out when you are donating things. #1. Make sure it is clean – this may seem like a given but I spent every night washing runners, blankets and clothing. No one in a shelter has access to a washer/dryer. #2. If it is something you won’t wear, your Mom won’t wear and your kids won’t wear don’t donate it. when you are really in need, something nice can really make a difference. #3. buy new underwear to donate. Just a few things that we dealt with. Alberta is a wonderful place to live.:)
This address volunteer@calgary.ca doesn’t work, unfortunately. I was trying to send an email twice…and they were returned with a failure notice.
They were getting such a high volume of emails it likely couldn’t handle the amount
I have a large (~6000 pieces) amount of quality clothing – mainly women’s, some men’s – and would really like to give it to a group who can make use of it. Any suggestions?
The Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter is accepting donations of cash, new clothing and basic essentials for displaced women and children due to flooding. Donation hotline: (403) 539-5130.
